Artifact 1: Band and Orchestra Repertoire
This artifact is two repertoire lists that I compiled. The first list is all grade 1 to 2 music written for beginning band and orchestra. The other list is fifteen pieces for band and fifteen pieces for orchestra for grade levels 3 to 5. These lists demonstrate my knowledge of literature and that I have put the time in to researching diverse composers. During my teaching internship, I created and used a listening assignment using some of my literature knowledge from these lists. This way, the students were exposed to new music and an underrepresented composer.
Artifact 2: Arrangement for Middle School Band
This artifact is an arrangement of a Chopin piano nocturne for middle school wind ensemble I made. I included this artifact because it displays my knowledge of the capabilities of middle school students in skills such as range, rhythm reading, and technique. With this knowledge, I was able to determine what the challenging musical elements were of the repertoire I was rehearsing during my teaching internship. I was able to target places in the music I knew the students might struggle with and spend less time on places I knew the students would already be able to play.

Artifact 3: 3rd Grade Cello Lesson Plan
This artifact is a lesson plan for a 3rd grade cello group from my elementary teaching internship. I included this artifact because it shows I have the knowledge of basic cello note fingerings for first position. I have also taught similar lessons on violin, viola, and bass where I needed to know the fingerings for all notes in first position on each string. Having the knowledge of these fingerings helped me quickly teach these notes to the students during my teaching internship. I was able to teach the students the fingering and continue on to playing those notes in the same lesson.
